ions. I have been a Buddhist for over 40 years and have used this religion to change the destiny of what would have been my life. I was born in Los Angeles in 1949 at L.A. General Hospital to Albert and Helen Minters. I was the second son of what could have been a family with nine children. I was born a twin, but the only one to survive childbirth. Briefly, I was raised in Compton, California, dropped out of high school at 17 to join the Army. After serving the first half of my three year enlistment in Europe I went to Viet Nam (received a Purple Heart) and went pretty much nuts. After the Army,I became a searcher, but also, an extensive drug user (marijuana, hash, every kind of pill, heroin, opium and meth), petty criminal, want-to-be revolutionary and for the most part a very angry and misguided young man. I joined a Buddhist organization (SGI-USA) in 1973 and after 7 years of doing what is called "Human Revolution" I came out on the path toward enlightenment and harmony with my entire environment (physical, mental and spiritual). Since then, I have been successful in raising a happy family, helped many people change their life, worked in a satisfying career which I recently retired from and remained happily married for over 30 years.".
